We did one long 1:45 min set and it came off perfectly. I can’t begin to explain how tight the band is - I revealed to the crowd at the end of the set that this was our third gig together and it blew everyone’s mind. Special thanks to Dave at the Pickin Palace and all involved with the festival. Also had a chance to hang out with Grammy nominated Randy Mcallister from Texas who headlined the gig - do yourself a favor and check him out

www.randymcallister.com I’ve been a fan for years - one of the nicest dudes I’ve ever met. Driving to Vernal, Utah tonight which is the Dinosaur capital of the planet. Hanging at the Flaming Gorge Lake - this is the most beautiful scenery imaginable.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mhLwp7qQJHI/Tkj52aiVWWI/AAAAAAAAACY/oQYbA4MovAc/s320/2011-08-14%2B15.09.31.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5641033246513125730" />

LEFT OF CENTER

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pRK1RgYEcY4/TkdBB7mjD3I/AAAAAAAAABw/0sq6zgTPRz4/s320/2011-08-13%2B13.44.49.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5640548559739883378" />

So Rawlins Wyoming is interesting - how bout fucking nuts. Never have I seen such a large group of lunatics in all my days - place was cool - band rocked - but the curse of country music, hip hop, techno, and kid rock on the brakes just sealed the deal. Cowboy hats - Jersey shore types - muffin tops - “play some Skynard” - bar fights - the whole shebang. Our new friends Angie and Todd showered us with Bitch Bombs - which is Crown Royal,, Red Bull and peach schnapps. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MgUnjSJfDQc/TkdBcp_4ZaI/AAAAAAAAAB4/tKhAxA0solM/s320/2011-08-13%2B13.33.47.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5640549018870769058" />
That beverage alone sums up the evening actually. To describe the “diversity” is simply impossible. Adam said it best: “what the fuck just happened.” We had them on the floor dancing at least and many people thought of us as the best band that has ever darkened the door steps of the Pepper Mill. But the guys and girls with the cowboy hats who wanted to line dance didn’t dig it so much I don‘t think. And who line dances to Cha Cha Slide anyway? Jared pegged it on the way back to the room - “place was a little left of center.”
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f29y1m5FyQ8/TkdCKeKRwVI/AAAAAAAAACI/e97Itw5UNYo/s320/0813111333.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5640549805967130962" />

Friday, August 12 - 3:06 p.m. Wyoming time.

Well my stress level has finally come down to it’s normal heavy level because this tour almost didn’t happen for a number of reasons. As many of you know, I had carpal tunnel surgery as well as knee surgery a little over 3 weeks ago - that alone made me a nervous wreck and still does concerning my stamina. Then, just days before departure, we got some bad news that Jon, for reasons not worth discussing, was unable to do the tour. We tried to get long time comrade and bassist Gary Gates to join us, but his schedule was full which left only one thing to do - cancel the tour, burning all of the bridges I’ve worked so hard to build (especially in Rock Springs WY). Then out of the blue, Adam gets a lead on a player from Cincy who was free - we talked on the phone - he sounded cool and that very evening we headed out on our 21 hour journey to the wild west. Now I’m a bit of a control freak, and the notion of someone not knowing any of my material and me not knowing anything about him was a bit of a stretch. I was asking things like “do you have a drivers license and a bass)? The whole time he listened to my CD’s a few times - didn’t write down anything and I was freaking the fuck out!!! So we found out that 29 year old Jared Manker is a monster bass player - almost freakish in a “Rain Man” way. We went over material a little bit before the show and just winged it last night - he didn’t miss a beat I shit you not. Adam and I were blown away to say the least as was the crowd that we slayed at a favorite little joint in Centennial, WY - especially when I revealed at the end of the show that we had never played together or even known each other for that matter. Anyway - fun trip across the mountains today to Rawlins, WY at a very nice club the Pepper Mill for another show tonight - wish me luck.

I’ll end with a quote from Murf - the man who cooks our giant cowboy steaks at The Trading Post last night:
“Eric, you are bad-ass fucking geetar playing mother fucker”

RECOVERY UPDATE

Eric Jerardi is a fast heeler and ready to tackle the open road with a mini tour to Wyoming and back to home base, Dayton, Ohio. Absolutely breathtaking panoramic views - antelope, deer and coyote everywhere and cold beer. Last night in Denver was interesting - not as interesting as Topeka Kansas. All I know is that either everyone is fucking crazy and I'm normal or perhaps (and more likely) the opposite is true. We have put in 27 hours of drive time in 3 days (which may explain the answer to the afore mentioned question) - and just arriving at a huge festival in Green River Wyoming that we headline today (starting in 2 hours). I guess that means the show last night was
good - now that I recall - it was. The weather didn't keep the
Oregon Express from being packed out in spite of the level 2 snow
emergency. I wanted to be finished by 1:00 - but three encores and
the threat of revolt kept me on stage until 1:45. How could I say no
to violent EJB fans? One dude flipped a table over and was screaming
like an inmate - fear had a little bit of a factor in my decision to
keep playing I suppose. Hope everyone enjoys the new CD - we sure
sold a pile of them last night and hope to keep the momentum going.

See you on the road,
E

Eric Jerardi Band Featured in Dayton Daily News

Eric Jerardi featured in DDN today for new live CD Most bands spend countless hours fretting over the completion of a new album, and Eric Jerardi has experienced that himself. Honestly I’m happy that ’09 is dead and gone – however we did have one hell of a successful touring schedule which nearly killed me. West coast twice and all points in between doing over 159 shows took it’s toll, but my batteries are now charged and the road calls -looking forward to this year. Within the summer touring schedule last year we did a blues fest in Wisconsin and unbeknownst to me the show was recorded and it turned out very well. We decided to release it nationally so keep your eyes peeled for EJB Live at the Waukesha Blues Festival. One hour – 16 songs – more of my bluesy set that many have requested – so here you have it. You will have to wait for the CD to get the juicy details

about that day and what it entailed – fun story. The band included Jon of course on bass and out of retirement – Joe Prescott on drums. Good news - the new drummer fucking rocks!!! We only have four shows under our belts and things are exciting. Scott has a great feel - a big-ass foot and the willingness to suffer through Jon's gas and my mood swings, as well as a lot of driving. I'm sitting in my hotel room in Rockland Maine, overlooking the ocean -classic north Atlantic gray rocks with seemingly hundreds of sailboats tethered in the sound - pretty cool. It's been raining like a bitch for days - in fact our blues fest in Buffalo yesterday was moved inside a small bar due to the weather. We headlined with Duke Robbilard which was cool and we had
a great show in a packed out bar; unfortunately we had to take off last night after the show to make it to Maine, so we missed Duke.

Well, time to load in (we just threw back lobster rolls and drank a bottle of French wine) - Road Island tomorrow after we stop by Kennebunk to visit with Babs and George H. Dub.

See you soon,

E

Big Summer Crowds

So Illinois is really cool but it sucks to drive through - with a trailer I might add. I think it is the only state that I can think of that has a speed limit of 55mph if you have a trailer - and I do. They enforce this shit as well - 55 sucks - it is like you are crawling along, cars whizzing by - hate it. However - the shows we did were awesome - Quincy IL is on the Mississippi river - very cool little town and we were the act for their Blues In The Park concert series. Didn't know what to think, but it turned out great - right around 2000 people in a beautiful downtown square. From there we went to Chicago and played Soldiers Field for Ale Fest. Again 1500 people who loved the band - beautiful day - great beer - all good. Getting in front of over 3000 people in two days makes the hard work worth it - then add beer - doesn't get any better. Rock on............

West Coast Wrap

Well we made it - 16 shows in 20 days - good to be back home. This tour was by far the best of my career - it's rewarding to know that when you go back to these towns - you have made connections with people and the fan base grows. This tour represented that - it is a nice concept but doesn't always work - for us - it has. We all hatched an idea to beg for tips from our audiences - you know to help with the high gas prices ($4.35 in California). That resulted in $996.00 for the tank (nearly half the cost). What a shot in the arm that was for me personally - CD sales were also great. We are doing something right I suppose. Highlights - Napa is like home - so that was great. But the Oregon coast, Washington, and Idaho blew us away. We believe in Bigfoot now. I can't begin to describe the scenery out there - I implore all of you to take a trip out west - see the country - at least once in your lifetime.

We are starting to hold auditions by the way for a new drummer - please contact me through the site if you are interested or if you know someone who may be.

One last thing - please enjoy the video of a large goldfish sucking my toes at lake Erie.

Much love,

Eric

Last Day of Tour

So Tacoma totally rocks - we loved our shows there and the people are fantastic. After Tacoma we had a grueling 27 1/2 hour drive to St.Cloud Minnesota - that sucked balls - big balls. We were taking a State Route thru Montana and realized that the next gas station was over 100 miles away so we turned around and drove 24 miles and barely - I mean barely made it to a gas station that took credit cards at night - amazing luck. We almost hit 14 deer, a fox, elk and some other shit. St. Cloud tied Kearney NE for the worst shows of the tour - just burned out from the drive and everyone there is a zombie. Last night we did a great private party in Sioux City Iowa - fucking blast in a horse barn - 150 people - beer. This morning I got impressions of my teeth made for trays to whiten my dingy teeth. The great guy who hired us ( Rick Kava ) is a dentist and he said that I am a performer and need whiter teeth - so there you go - stay tuned for before and after shots. That impression thing sucked - I about gagged and puked on the guy - he will mail them out when ready. You know what - driving through Iowa does suck as much as everyone says it does - fucking blows. One more show on the 4th at our annual bash at Lake Erie - can't wait to get home

Eric Jerardi to play in Dayton Sunday July 26, 2009

EJB will play it’s first show in dayton after almost two months of touring to the west coast. This town is cool and the drive to it was one of the most spectacular I've seen - no Sasquatches yet - or is it Sasqui (plural big foot). Very nice people -cool club (Waldo's) downtown - hot chicks - the whole shebang. Club promoter said we were the best act to come through in over 10 years - so that is cool. On a side note - the fine people of this town are very proud of their Marijuana - all the big clones came from south central Oregon they say. So looking at snow capped mountains and clear lakes - Domaine de Nizas rose 2007 on ice and our road beer of choice - Tecate guess why? (think Coca Cola). Shout out later. p.s. this band is on fire - I'm as happy playing as I ever have been in all my years.

EJB Rocks Boise

So boise fucking rocks. Doesn't get much better - 9 hr drive today to make it to Dubois Wyoming. Having so much fun with
my boys - both Curt and Jon are like my little brothers and my big brothers depending on the minute - we are having a ball and have never sounded better.

June 15 - Last night in Dubois was fucking cool - total cowboy town. A new thing for our new friend Bobby Lawrence at the Whiskey Creek Saloon - doing national acts on Sunday night. We fucking rocked and had a lot of fun. The crowd was odd however - the dude from Big Lewbowski was there with his cowboy hat, big mustache, neckerchief and the whole bit along with a bunch of young camp counselors for shitty brats at a host of "outward bound" type of programs in that area. The countryside is truly breathtaking and inspiring. We are in Yellowstone right now - having a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and waiting for Old Faithful to blow her nut for us in 25 min.

Rock on.

Road Trip

Travel log - day three: So we kicked the shit out of St. Louis and Baxter Iowa last night. Oddly, I'm the most child-like person that I know, which makes this absolutely crazy. And speaking of crazy - if you missed the 40th birthday bash Friday at the Oregon Express in Dayton - well then, you missed out. I signed 9 breasts-1 butt cheek - drank more tequila than a man should half my age. My closest ally and manager mister (Allen Farst of Niche Productions and Niche Records) presented me with a Fender Strat signed by the artist relations department as well as the talented luthiers down at the Fender Custom Shop in Nashville - very cool. Al also presented me with a framed montage of all my CDs and DVD with Niche Records - very very fucking cool. We had Bud Girls passing out Eric Jerardi Band beer coozies and best of all - the show was recorded for an up-coming live CD. A lot for an old dude to handle I might add. I made it home somehow and the rest - well the rest is history. I am looking forward to this summer's touring and hope to see each and every one of you on the road.

Eric

P.S. keep the dirty pictures and the fan letters coming - I love it.

Follow The Eric Jerardi Band

Newletter Sign-Up:

Contact Us

Management
Allen Farst Management
P.O. It’s his relentless commitment to touring that has resonated so deeply with audiences. His live shows are legendary all across markets in the United States. From bloody fingers to late night tequila and beer- Jerardi’s audiences are known to be the biggest drinkers, and clubs love it. This commitment has picked up sponsorships with Budweiser, Fender, and SITS strings.

Jerardi has released 6 CD’s since 1997 and has worked with some of the industry’s best producers and notable musicians. From working with producer David Z [Prince, Fine Young Cannibals] to recording with Chuck Leavell [Rolling Stones], Jerardi is having the time of his life. This new CD titled “Live at Waukesha Blues Festival” was recorded August 8th, 2009 and really represents how polished Jerardi has become as an entertainer. The tightness of the band is amazing which can only be achieved through years of performances lead by veteran bass player Jon Arnold and drummer Joe Prescott – at the time of the recording was just out of retirement.

“All those years of honing my craft have brought me to this comfortable place in my life and my music…” states Jerardi. “I’m not as serious as I used to be. I’m writing more fun or witty songs, as well as my usual heartbreakers, and I like it. My playing, singing and writing have never been better, and my most recent live CD will showcase that.”

Jerardi began his musical career with winning a battle of the bands contest in 1989 at Ohio University. Two years later, Jerardi won another contest at OU, which secured a spot on MTV as the Midwest’s Best Unsigned College Band. Over the years, he has shared the stage with Little Feat, Robin Trower, and Jim Belushi at the House of Blues, Chicago and LA; played with Eric Johnson on Cape Cod; jammed with Keith Urban, Wynonna, and Kenny Chesney in Nashville; and headlined B.B. Kings in Memphis, Nashville, LA, and Manhattan. He has played in countless blues festivals, major concerts, and a myriad of other shows around the country for the last 20 years

Jerardi’s debut CD was released in 1995. The album highlights Jerardi’s use of riffs and melodic leads which have become his signature style. His first live release followed, exposing audiences to the intensity of Jerardi in concert. In 1998, Jerardi recorded Had Enough, a collection of blues rock compositions that are provocative and partially autobiographical. The song “Fate” considers the battle between fate and free will. “Tortured Soul,” “Tomorrow,” and “Pain” laud Jerardi’s only brother, who succumbed to cancer that same year.

Jerardi released another live album in 2001, and followed it with Virtual Virtue the following year. This release featured Chuck Leavell, the keyboardist and pianist for such renowned acts as the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and the Black Crowes. Leavell’s melodic arrangements amplified Jerardi’s powerful sound. In 2007, Jerardi released Restless, which is considered one of his boldest statements to date. "Sonically, it's nothing like Virtual Virtue," Jerardi says. "Virtual Virtue is much more polished. I spent less time analyzing everything on Restless because I wanted it to be more natural."

Currently, Jerardi’s new CD Live at Waukesha Blues Festival is a true testament to life on the road. The heat index was 130 degrees on the day of the show, and two days prior Jerardi had cut his finger—blood and sweat are a combination for trouble on a vintage ’62 Fender Strat. When his finger opened up and blood poured out all over his guitar, it started to short out; however, it made for an interesting recording. As the CD cover shows—so much for the “glamour and the glory”— the show must go on! Next stop Albuquerque.

Discography:

Eric Jerardi

Eric Jerardi Live

Had Enough

Budweiser Presents

Virtual Virtue

Eric Jerardi Band “Troubled Times, Troubled Places” DVD

Restless

Live: Waukesha Blues Festival [RELEASE TBD 2k10]

Eric Jerardi Band [support/opening gigs]

I have received a ton of emails asking me who I've played with over the years - so I asked my management to compile and here it is: Doobie Brothers, Johnny Lang, Jimmy Vavino, 38 Special, Robin Trower -3 US tours-, A.J Croce, Tinsley Ellis, Tommy Castro, Traffic, Delbert McClinton, Dave Mason, The Marshall Tucker Band, Joanna Conner, Ellis Paul, Chris Duarte, Rob Rule, Eddie Money, Henry Lee Summer, Edgar Winter, Ronnie Montrose, Brother Cain, Exile, John Wait, Blue Oyster Cult, Molly Hatchet, Jim Belushi, Little Feet, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Wynonna, LeAnne Womack, Rachel Loy, Richard Marx, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Beu Sisters, Todd Wolfe, Eric Johnson, The Kinsey Report, James Otto, The Knack, Elvin Bishop

Matte Blues Matters! Magazine, England

Well crafted pieces that take you on a ride of musical styles without fear, without genre, without prejudice...with style, with feeling, with talent, with joy, with funk, with guts, with awesome playing and variation!

House of Blues - Boston

Eric Jerardi has exploded onto the national scene as one of this country's foremost blistering blues/rock players!

La Hora Del Blues

Eric is really superb in this CD [Live Vol I], full of the most powerful electrifying aggressive rock-blues. Besides, he is backed by a de luxe trio, a non-stop rhythm engine, who give him a perfect support along the whole cd. Sixteen sweaty effective songs that will impact to any hard-power flamming blues fan. Eric knows how to use pedal guitar effects with sobriety and good taste. So I can highly recommend this cd to people who like volume, distortion and aggressive guitars.

Dave Hussong - Vintage Guitar

http://www.vintageguitar.com/ The ever evolving talents of Eric Jerardi have reached a level of maturation on this brilliant piece of Memphis aural art. Recorded primarily at two Tennessee studios on the banks of Mississippi, this effort reflects not only the traditions implied by the city and the river, but the quality of work that is part and parcel to that area's musical legacy. With the Dominating keyboard of legendary Chuck Leavell, this is truly a "band" recording. Everyone, especially Jerardi, is listening closely, and Leavell's contribution is obviously exerting a positive influence. There are a greater number of influences creeping into the musical aspects of this release, and they're refreshing. Jerardi remains focused, not prone to the excess of the road ...

Summer Tour

Greetings from Rock Springs Wyoming for all of you who care. I thought I would give you a little info on our current summer tour and offer up a little life lesson that I've learned in my travels. First and foremost - if you plan on driving to Nebraska, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, back to Wyoming, and Nebraska, to Indiana and then back to Ohio - bring a shit load of wine with you to numb the pain of the current fuel situation. People continually ask me why I would be on tour - especially to the west coast and back - given the current gas prices. The answer is: "the fucking gas wasn't 4 bucks a gallon when the tour was booked and the contracts signed." Oh - that is what I say INSIDE my head - what I say on the outside is: "because we were born to rock and gas has little or nothing to do with touring - Hell, my van gets 10 miles to the gallon - it's all good." For those of you from Dayton - take note that we are rarely there - the next shows will be July 18 at the Oregon Express and July 19 at Riverscape. The big surprise is that my former bandmates - Curtis Sanford on drums and Gary Gates on bass will be joining me for these two shows - a little reunion tour if you will. That being said - we hope we see you soon and that you stay in touch - pictures from the road to soon follow on ericjerardi.com and myspace.

Ciao,

E

Tour Forward

Summer is here and we have 42 dates booked between now and Labor Day.Then the Fall touring schedule starts - lots of work brothers and sisters. Anyway - I love it (I must) - so that's that. Look for some old friends helping me out in the near future - Curtis Sanford and Gary Gates will be doing a 2 day reunion tour with me July 18 and 19 in Dayton. As many of you know, our beloved Joe will be departing the band in the almost very near future - details to follow. It's been a great ride with Joe and we wish him well - he witnessed the rebirth of Eric Jerardi (that's me) - and recorded the Restless album with Jon and I (my best album to date) - we love you brother. Other news: Fender finally got around to featuring me on Fender.com - check it out - pretty cool being next to another Eric who is endorsed by Fender. Stay in touch with us through the web site and be sure to check out www.myspace.com/ericjerardiband and add us to your friend list - dates are posted - don't be late, E

Eric

Deep Thoughts by Joe Prescott

Hey y'all,It is me Table Top Joe. My apologies for my infrequent visits to the land of the blog, but I have been in the process of moving for the last few weeks coupled with the tour schedule and living life in general, things have been....well crazy. Lamb of God jamming away and here I am. Some of you might be aware that life as a musician is challenging to say the least. One of the challenges on the road is not beating Eric and Jon at Tiger Woods'05 to the point that they just give up. It is a fine line. I would like to honor some higher being or deity, but it is pure and simple skill babies. Jon was once the teacher and now I am the master. Golf Yoda if you will. Eric, I am your father. O.K. Truth be told, even though I did win the most on the most recent long, out west tour ('score sheets' to come once I fix the scanner), but Eric is usually the hardest to beat. He is very consistent even without employing the various enhancements (power, hook, etc.) to his game. The game is amazing though. I grew up with Atari 2600. The characters we use for the Tiger woods on the playstation 2 look just like us. I will try to get Jon to find a way to post them the web site. Thanks to all of you for coming out to shows and supporting the band. We just want to keep rocking and rolling and making great music. I can't remember a time when I've had more fun playing in strange places and meeting even stranger people. Neno at Big Cities Lounge in Rockford, IL was crazier than a shit house rat - but cool and loads of fun. Another character whose path we crossed for the second time was Betsy at Spanky's in Ft. Dodge Iowa. One of the most bizarre gigs ever - but wonderful just the same. Great crowd - great people - drunk though. She sold 4 bottles of Capt. Morgan (yuck!!!!), 2 bottles of Jack and 1 Canadian Club to just a hand full of patrons. The ones who drank that drank a shit load of it and people were actually falling down the stairs at the end of the night - rolling around in the fucking street. I guess we incite absolute lunacy in people - it makes me so proud. The last show we did was at the Cuthills winery in Pierce Nebraska. We headlined a blues concert and killed in front of 1000 plus people. Holly and Ed, the owners of the winery, were so cool and so was the festival. Our crack booking agent booked the entire show, so we got to see and meet a few of our "stable mates." Clay McClinton (Delbert's son) was just before us - nice dude. We did 5 encores - they wouldn't let us stop - it was big fun. So home for a few days - then back to the corn belt for another 5 day runner ending up in Omaha.

Rock on and buy -Restless-- it is a cool CD - I promise.

E

Radio Starts Spinning CD

EJBs new CD is getting early spins on WTUE 104.7 in Dayton Ohio thanks to the B-man and WYSOs Rev Cool has been spinning Restless as well. So for all of you gear heads and tone geeks - here's the poop: In the studio for the "Restless" sessions, I simply set up my usual live rig, got a great tone with my strat, then I never touched a knob on my amps from that point forward. There are so many different tones on this CD, however they were derived from different guitars, while the amp set up stayed constant. I used six different guitars during the recording - and again never messed with the trebble, mids, bass, volume etc. The amps were my work horse 1964 Super Reverb and a little 1953 tweed Deluxe loaded with an early 60's JBL D-120 F 12 inch speaker. The punch of the tweed deluxe with the JBL, and the pretty, smooth sound of the Super work perfectly together. The only exception was on the song "Get Back" where I used the Super with a Marshall JMP - 50 watt combo amp loaded with 2 EV 12L speakers. This amp will hurt small children undoubtedly. There are two things that most people overlook when trying to achieve a great guitar sound - good cables and voltage. I exclusively use George L's for all of my cables. Do yourself a favor and look into these - they truly sing unlike any other cable on the market, and I've tried them all. As for voltage, this is so very important and always overlooked - if you are using an older tube amp, realize that they are sounding their best at 117 or 118 volts (on old Fenders, it says 117 volts right on the back pannel). When you are in a studio - the power is pristine and strong - at Young Avenue Studios in Memphis where we cut the record, it measured 123 volts. Nothing will kill your tone more than that - it becomes brittle and thin sounding under these conditions - the amps just won't give. So always carry a multi-meter with you, turn it to volts, then insert the probes into each side of the outlet and get the reading. In the studio I used a variac to bring down the voltage to 117 - then the amps came to life - I use this practice in live settings too. As for effects - I use a Vox "Clyde McCoy" wah wah, into a TS9 tube screamer, into an MXR "scroll" phase 90, into a TS808 tube screamer into a Boss tuner out to a Morley A/B/Y splitter box. Keep in mind that I always use non-alkaline batteries in the old pedals because they sound better due to the fact that they have weaker voltage. These new super 9volt batteries measure more like 10.5 or 11 volts which gives more effect to straight signal ratio - which sucks.

The guitars used on the recording are as follows - in no particular order - and I won't tell you which song matches each guitar - I think it is obvious: My beloved, thrashed, red "62 Strat 1965 dead stock Strat (this guitar made most of the record - thank you Roger) 1960-something Fender Mustang (out of phase) 1960-something Guild "Starfire IV" Early 70's Les Paul Standard with P-90 pickups

Drop me a line anytime with questions - I'm here to help brothers and sisters. Thank you for enjoying "Restless" - I'm a proud papa/producer.

E

Dayton Blues Festival

For those of you who missed the Dayton Blues fest - you missed an epic performance. I flew Al Gamble up from Memphis to play organ for us at the show. Al played on -Restless- and is not only a great guy, but also an unbelievable player. Thank you to Mike for providing us with a beautifully tattered Hammond B3 and a Leslie - it sounded great. And for those who got a copy of the new disc, thank you very much for the support - I hope you enjoy it.

People have asked me several times about the hidden symbolism within the artwork and packaging of the new CD. There are vultures, giant eggs, odd pictures etc. Well the answer is that I'm not telling you - but here are a few hints: maybe the world is full of vultures that constantly circle above - waiting for an opportunity to feed upon anything that may stumble - not sure. Maybe the egg symbolizes the fact that blues hatched a baby and they called that baby rock and roll - I don't know. Maybe I'm inside the egg - ready to finally peck my way out - that's kind of cool. Maybe vultures, although repugnant, provide a valuable service to our human eco system - they rip, tear and clean the dead flesh that lingers after the souls of the departed have departed - again not sure. It also could mean absolutely nothing after all - let me know what you think.

RESTLESS UPDATE

It is official- the new EJB CD is on sale now at iTunes....

EJ on touring

The road, the road, the road - what else can I say? Wanderlust, romance, binge drinking, tearing peoples heads off from coast to coast - that about sums it up. In order to support the new CD, we three individuals must get in the tour bus (my conversion van), and head down the highway. We went out for almost 4 weeks in July and early August and had a great time. I would highly recommend that everyone should see our great and vast country from a van window while drinking, smoking and peeing in bottles - it is truly awe inspiring. We took time between holes of Tiger Woods playstation golf to see bald eagles, elk, hookers, winos, buffalo, deer, antelope, wild fires, seals, whales and sharks. From the Rocky mountains to the Pacific northwest coast - it was all cool. Seattle was a stand out of course, as was Yachats, OR - Napa Valley as well as the Oregon wine country was drunkenly superb as well (thanks to our friends at Markham in Napa and Stoller vineyards in Dundee, OR for putting us up in their super sweet guest houses). However, if you try to embark on a journey such as this, try to not drive from Seattle to St. Cloud MN in a straight 25 hour shot - can be somewhat exhausting.

We'll see you on the road.

p.s. thanks to all of our concerned friends and fans who thought that we for sure went down on that bridge in Minnesota - we missed it by about 35 minutes and are home safe and sound.

E

Video confirmed to support new CD

EJB is in pre-production for their new video to be shot at the end of august. We have been giving different mastering labs a chance to master one song to see who sounded the best and the process took a bit longer than we thought it would. We have decided on Ken Love of Master Mix from Nashville. His tone and energy was far and away the best of the bunch. For those of you who don’t understand what I’m talking about–here it is in a nutshell: after the songs are mixed but before they are released in any form, they are sent to a mastering lab where the order of the songs are arranged, the time between songs, maybe a fade out, but most importantly the overall E.Q. or tone of the entire CD is adjusted. You would be very surprised how different the final product actually sounds when a talented mastering engineer puts his touch on the music. In the case of Restless there were huge differences from the different labs and techniques. Most sounded thin or squashed, but Ken’s old school way of mastering sounded fat and punchy with tons of attitude. Needless to say, we are all very excited.

I wanted to also thank the House of Blues Chicago for having us play this past weekend. We had two great shows (sold out on Saturday), and a hell of a lot of fun. We met so many nice people from all over the world who came in for the Chicago Blues Fest. People from all over the country, Europe and even Gibraltar were at our shows and we laid the wood to each and every one of them.

Rock on and enjoy the new CD.

Eric

New CD Update

Greetings- I wanted to let everyone know what is going on with the new CD. Three weeks ago I booked a flight to Memphis to finish up the vocals and start mixing. Let's just say that when I got out of bed that morning - I should have stayed in. Upon arrival at the airport I learned that my flight was cancelled - the always helpful "staff" gave me two options: arrive in Memphis at midnight, thus missing my session, or drive like a fucking wild man down to Cincinnati to catch a direct flight. I took the gamble and actually made it on the plane. As the plane descended into Memphis, the cold that I had reared it's ugly head, became worse, and by the time I landed, I was deaf in my right ear. My engineer, Willie said I sounded like I had a close pin on my nose. So I went to bed, full of over-the-counter narcotics, hoping to awake in a better state. Well, as these things go - I didn't. I spent another C note changing my ticket, and headed from Cleveland Mississippi (I'll explain later) back to Memphis the very next day. I had almost an entire bottle of 2003 Chateau St George left over from the night before which I was not, under any circumstance, let going to let go to waste. I drank the whole thing, feeling miserable about the entire ordeal, on the bus trip from the rental car joint to the airport, out of a gas station soda cup that I stole as I refueled. That mixed with the cold medicine, and two giant beers, (the ones for just a dollar more) at the bar next to my terminal, insured that I would miss my flight - and I did. I just sat there - deaf - and watched it go. It's hard to explain actually. As I approached the counter, the lady asked me if I was Eric. She scolded me and wondered why I didn't respond to her calling for me over the loud speaker - "I'm deaf" I told her - "I'm deaf!!!!" Since I was handicapped (better yet impaired), the lady was nice enough to put me on another flight, and I got home at almost the same time as I would have - my bag was waiting on me. So I leave this Monday to resume - same flight, same piece-of-shit rental car, hopefully with no head cold. I got a shot in my ass last night to fend off any off any lingering illness, so stay tuned and wish me good luck and safe travels. Man what a great start to the new year. We finally got back to Memphis to record another album with Willie Peaver- our most trusted producer. When it came to recording VV in 01- Willie really taught me as a musician how to get a live feel in the studio. I mean, the drummer would still be in his own sound booth and he would be like

"I need you to take your headphones off. " This concept to me was like asking a trucker to put a blindfold on before he hit the road on coffee and meth. Not good. But it made me trust what I was playing and really get a good feel for what everyone else was doing rather than show off for my own sake. Willie......THANK YOU.

For the fans out there, this next album (Restless) is going to be a new perspective on what we normally do in the studio. We took a live approach. Cut everything in 1 to 2 takes. And no edits. That means all my lemons are there for you to hear. There there...trust me. But this is going to be lo-fi coolness that you only hear with the great albums. We are truly proud of this monster and hope that you guys love it to. I'll see you out there at the shows and god bless.

Memphis Session

Young Avenue Sounds, Memphis TN. Interview with Eric Jerardi on his new record and catching up with the artist after 5 years since his last record.

For those of you anxiously awaiting a new studio record from The Eric Jerardi Band - the wait is nearly over. In early January, 2007 we recorded “RESTLESS” again with veteran engineer Willie Pevear and again in Memphis. The major difference between this and my past recordings is that we set up and played live in the studio which produced a sound and a feeling that I have been chasing after for nearly 20 years. I’m fucking giddy. Believe it or not we cut 13 songs in only three and half days!!! We enlisted the help of a world class musician, Al Gamble on the keys and the rest is history. I love Memphis and I love recording there - seeing that big river and hanging out in little music clubs - eating BBQ and the whole bit really sets the mood for me. I have to hand it to the band, Jon and Joe, for laying it down - they were superb. Realize that when you set up in a room together and push record, you can’t go back and fix anything - it’s all or nothing. No overdubs, no headphones, no rhythm or click tracks - just the band playing like we do every night. Willie told me yesterday that this was the most fun he’s had in the studio in over 10 years. I don’t know what I’ve been waiting for, but the wait was worth it.

Thank executive producer/manager/friend Big Al for pulling the trigger on this thing and booking the studio with no more than a few weeks notice. I think he knew that if I had little time to ponder the session, it would work out for the better - he was and is generally always right about these things and me. Our motto was fuck it - we don’t care. Sometimes that is the answer to all things really - if you try to hard you will screw it up. On a side note, 26 bottles of wine and a 5th of Tequila were harmed during the making of this CD.
